VAT in United Arab Emirates
The UAE introduced VAT at 5% in January 2018. Businesses with annual taxable supplies exceeding AED 375,000 must register for VAT with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA).
What a legal invoice must include in United Arab Emirates
A UAE VAT invoice must include: Tax Registration Number (TRN), invoice number, date, description of supply, taxable amount, VAT rate (5%), VAT amount, and total in AED.
Dubai and Abu Dhabi are major business hubs. Most invoicing is in AED, though USD is widely accepted. Businesses must retain VAT invoices for at least 5 years.
